For Each a Monkey

I started doing this art project while in college. I want to convey the importance of interacting with other people face-to-face, and also stress the rare, perhaps only, opportunity that students have. College provides us with more than an education; it also gives us the opportunity to make relationships with others in our desired profession. Lasting connections to pears, and teachers have been proven to increase the likelihood of success in the future. Also, it is probable that students won't have another opportunity to be around this many artists and others in or emerging into the art world. So I asked myself: Could I produce something that is representative of this situation, encourage interactions, be interesting as an art piece, and, perhaps most importantly, be understood as such?
Daily I hung a monkey in a different location throughout the Art department, and watched and documented the interactions by taking photos and posting them on an Instagram site I created.
An installation was done in the school's student art show, where it won the distance award.
